The story behind Deer Run Doodles

It all began
with Duke.

Our story began in 2018, when a four-month-old Goldendoodle named Duke joined our family. He quickly became so much more than our dog. We lovingly called him “The Nanny” because he helped us raise our three children, always close by with his gentle spirit and loyal heart.

When we lost Duke, he left a space in our family that could never quite be filled. Then came Dolly, a tiny six-week-old puppy who helped mend our hearts. Skye joined us later, at almost eight months old, bringing her own sweetness and love into our home.

Cotton’s story brings us right back to the beginning: he is Duke’s littermate. Originally adopted by Rachel’s uncle, Cotton eventually joined our family after life changes. His gentle demeanor reminds us so much of Duke, and having him here feels like carrying a little piece of Duke forward.

Today, Skye, Cotton, and Dolly are our much-loved four-legged family members. Their days unfold alongside ours on our small farm in Western Colorado, and the puppies grow up with our children, frequent human interaction, snuggles, and plenty of play.

This is Skye and Cotton’s final litter, making every little milestone especially meaningful. From sleepy newborn days to running through the grass, these puppies are part of our family until they become part of yours. Duke’s love is where it all started, and it is still at the heart of Deer Run Doodles.
